As a local, family owned and operated company who have been building in Darwin for more than 20 years, Ray Laurence Constructions are intent on working closely with the local community. We have a full team based in Darwin, including Project Managers, Site Managers, Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Managers, Project Administrators, Qualified Carpenters, Apprentices and Labourers.

Our experienced team strive to develop strong working relationships with clients, architects and subcontractors. We pride ourselves on our ability to meet construction timelines and our high standards of work, resulting in recurrence of business in the residential and commercial fields. We strive to provide the highest quality of service and have received industry awards for major renovations in the Darwin area.

Ray Laurence Constructions are one of the few construction companies in Darwin who have HIA Greensmart accreditation. This accreditation means that our building contractors utilise Greensmart principles by taking advantage of natural airflow and lighting for energy efficiency as well as generating less waste during the building process. As a team of local builders invested in the Darwin community, we are conscious of building with the environment in mind.

The Managing Director has been in the construction industry since 1991 and established in Darwin since 1997. Ray Laurence Constructions offers well over 20 years experience, meets deadlines and delivers a high quality end product.

Our Team:

Tanya Dickman – Administration Manager

As a born and bred Territorian, Tanya is pivotal in the success of Ray Laurence. Tanya manages payroll and all accounting functions ensuring prompt payments to all suppliers & sub-contractors. Tanya also arranges certification and statutory requirements for projects such as building certifications, power and water connections and local council and development permits.
Tanya also oversees all health and safety, environment and quality requirements.
You may also find Tanya working in her other passion in nursing. Tanya has been a nurse at Royal Darwin hospital since 1996 and loves helping her community.


Leo Enter – Project Manager

Leo joined Ray Laurence Constructions in January of 2019 as a Junior Project Manager. Leo is a qualified Mechanical Engineer with broad experience in the construction, gas and manufacturing industries. Leo’s strong communication and team work skills have enabled him to quickly become part of the RLC family. You may see Leo out and about as he is a keen runner, and has completed 5 marathons.


Shani Carson – Project Administrator 

Shani is a born and bred Territorian and joined RLC in March of 2018 as a Project Administrator, and general all rounder. Shani is involved in all jobs from tender stage through to handover and works closely with all other staff to ensure smooth transition of projects.
Outside of work, Shani enjoys playing Indoor Beach Volleyball & spending time outdoors with her family. She is active in her community, being a Chair of her School Council & involved in her kids sporting activities.


Chris Dinsdale – Site Supervisor

Chris is a highly experienced Site Supervisor with many years working on construction projects in Darwin. Born in the UK, Chris has been in Darwin for over 42 years. Outside of work, Chris enjoys travel and looking after his young grandson.


Dean Gregory – Site Supervisor

Dean is a born and bred Territorian who is a quiet achiever. He consistently produces quality workmanship while completing jobs in a safe and timely manner. Hardworking and honest, Dean is an asset to RLC and a great mentor to our apprentices.
Dean enjoys spending time with his family and completing woodwork in his spare time.


Darren Marshall – Leading Hand

Darren has been working with Ray Laurence Constructions since 2017 after relocating from South Australia. He has considerable experience in new buildings, renovations and extensions. Darren is enthusiastic and works well with others. He is constantly helping our apprentices learn and is a wonderful mentor to them.
When not at work, Darren enjoys walking his dog and going fishing.


Josh Dickman – 3rd Year Apprentice

Josh is a born and bred Territorian and began working for RLC in 2016 as a labourer before deciding to complete his carpentry apprenticeship. With his big smile, Josh always brings a positive attitude to site and is often cracking jokes.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys spending time with family and boxing.


Jake Crispin – 1st Year Apprentice

Jake commenced his carpentry apprenticeship with RLC in early 2018. When not at work Jake plays football for Tracy Village and enjoys going fishing.


Brayden Chin – 1st Year Apprentice

Brayden is a born and bred Territorian who commenced his carpentry apprenticeship with RLC late in 2018. Brayden is heavily involved in the Chinese community and participates in the Lion dancing Troop.


Charlie Dickman – Managing Director

An accomplished Builder, Charlie has been in the construction industry since 1991 and established Ray Laurence Constructions in 1997. He has completed over 200 projects in Darwin from commercial builds to custom new homes. Charlie’s extensive experience means that he is able to provide the right answer to all construction related queries.
Charlie is also a dedicated Rotarian and member of the Rotary Club of Darwin. He can often be found donating his time to the chocolate wheel at the Royal Darwin Show, or collecting admissions at motor shows, drag racing or the speedway.
