Gerald Road, Virginia

Creation of a custom built three bedroom home that would suit the environment in the rural area utilising energy efficiency principles was paramount. The home comprised a large breezeway between two sections of the home. The first section comprised the living area, main bedroom with ensuite and kitchen. The second section consisted of the remaining bedrooms and bathrooms. This allowed air flow to circulate throughout the home. A large cinema/media room was constructed downstairs along with the laundry.

The construction of generously proportioned verandahs with substantial roof over-hangs allowed for outdoor entertaining, taking in the views of natural bushland, without the risk of being hampered with bad weather. This also provided shade cover for the internal areas, keeping the interior cool without the use of air conditioning.
